Mosquito: Japanese Tapas; 10-15€; Vivid, Friendly atmosphere; Favourite Dish: Steamed dumplings and duck with hoisin sauce
Location: C. Carders 46, Barcelona

Red Ant: Japanese restaurant, serving Ramen, pan fried noodles, buns and other specialties. Authentic atmosphere, especially when you sit at the bar and can have a glimpse into the kitchen. Price Range: 7-9€ for a dish 
Good to Know: 1. Make a reservation on the weekend, otherwise there are long waiting times. 2. Try the pork belly bun, it's delicious. 3. The restaurant belongs to Mosquito, which is right around the corner and is a nice spot, too. 4. Try one of their mochis as dessert.

Alsur: All day coffee place; good for breakfasts and lunch; 5-10€; located on a nice square; Favourite Dish: patatas bravas & their cakes

Kiosko: Burgers; 6-10€; Little space, bistro-like atmosphere, but nice; Fauvourite Dish: Manchego burger on a brioche bun (Bacoa is another burger restaurant belonging to Kiosko)

Bar Rubi: Bar; hidden in a small street close to Picasso Museum; cosy, relaxed atmosphere, all in red; Mojito 4€; Huge range of Gin’s, around 6€; They serve small dishes for 3-5€

Arcano: Argentinian Restaurant; reminds of a cave/bodega, stylish interior; calm, unobtrusive atmosphere; 15-20€; Favourite Dish: Argentinian Entrecot with various sauces

Saboc: Very nice and stylish Tapas restaurant that looks more expensive from outside, than it is. The small dishes (with a little twist ) on the menu are organized according to the Degree size they are cooked at. Which can range from raw (20°C) until 200°C. Nice and attentive waiters. 
Price Range: 15-20€, dishes are 7-10€ Good to Know: 1. The small dishes are perfect for sharing, we had four 2. I loved the smoked squid as well as the cod ceviche.

Bubo: Patisserie; French-inspired, decent interior; 5€ for a pastry/cake, 1,20€ for a Macaron

La Vinya del Senyor: Wine Bar; Traditional, located on a vivid a bit touristy square, next to a decent but beautiful church; 5-60€ (glas or bottle of wine, price range is quite spread)

Bermuth: Vibrant, loud but atmospheric bar/restaurant serving all kinds of traditional Spanish Tapas, such as pan con tomate, croquetas, patatas bravas etc. Price Range: 4-8€ for a portion of Tapas Good to Know: 1. Reservation only from 6 people onwards 2. The peppers with goat cheese, the boquerones and the pan con tomate is very recommendable.

Nomad: Hipsterish coffee place with great coffee. We chose an espresso base from the three on the board and ordered them as a flat white. Was perfect! 
Price Range: 2€ for a flat white - that's unbeatable!

La Fabrica: Little take away place for Empanadas. You can have them warm, ready to eat, or take a bunch of them home. I only tried the one with spicy beef and I liked it a lot.

La Botifarra de Santa Maria: A little shop selling lot of different kinds of Manchego, Fuet and Llonganissa. Brought a of these back to Paris - all of their products are delicious!
Price Range: 3€ for a Fuet, 5€ for a big piece of Manchego
Good to Know: Try the drier Manchego, lying right at the counter. So good.

El MagnificoAlso a good coffee place, more traditional and you can buy plenty of roasts to take home. Loved the cafe con leche with the little on the side.
Price Range: 1,6€ for a medium cafe con leche.

La Paradeta: Sea Food Restaurant; unspectacular interior, could remind of a canteen; BUT: food is great, fresh, tasty; great price-value 12-15€ pP without drinks; Favourite Dish: Gambas a la plancha, tuna steak, oysters

Xurreria: Churros shop; very small take-away shop; 1-3€ for a portion of fresh, warm, homemade Churros; Favourite Dish: Plain churros with sugar

Bo de B: Moroccan sandwich shop; small take-away restaurant with limited amount of seating, be prepared to wait in line; 3-5€; Favourite Dish: marinated chicken sandwich

El Bombon: Bar; cosy, atmospheric, latin-american (music) atmosphere; 3€ for a Mojito; Great Mojitos served in jam jars – great to watch them prepare your drink

Muccis: Small restaurant with different small dishes; rather for take-away; 5-8€; Favourite Dish: All of their empanadas are great

Lukumas: Finally! Great, fluffy donuts (filled or not) in Raval. We had one with passion fruit glaze and one filled with chocolate and a resin glaze. 
Price Range: 2€ per donut.
Good to Know: They have a siesta (closed) between 13.30h and 16.00h.

Granja Petit Bo: Cosy restaurant/cafe in Eixample, serving Eggs Benedict, pancakes and salads throughout the week. On weekends there is a special brunch menu. 
Price Range: 7-15€, 12€ for Eggs Benny with a side salad and potatoes. 
Good to Know: My favorite was the Eggs Benedict with salmon.

Abissinia: Ethiopian Restaurant; traditional, cosy, comfortable atmosphere – you eat with your hands, which is a great experience; 12-17€; Favourite dish: share the mixed platter; it is a delicious combination of all kinds of Ethiopian dishes.

La Pubilla: Traditional Catalan restaurant serving, local, seasonal, delicious dishes! The waiters are super, friendly, very attentive and willing to help you with anything. The atmosphere is pleasant and casual, but food is taken very seriously. 
Price Range: Lunch: 14€ for a menu; Dinner: 20-30€ with wine. 
Good to Know: 1. Make a reservation at least one day in advance 2. I had the "veal stew", which sounds far more boring than it was. The soft and tender pieces of veal were served on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes with a bunch of aromatic mushrooms. Go for this! 3. If they have it, try the braised duck on poached quince or pear as a starter..heaven in your mouth! 4. I was just slightly disappointed by the dessert, because compared to the other dishes it was a bit simple.

Croq & Roll: A quite new restaurant serving mainly Spanish croquetas with many different fillings. My fav's were pork marinated in beer and chestnut & sweet potato. Its quite a big restaurant so don't worry about seating. 
Price Range: 1,20€ per croquette. 
Good to Know: 1. Their fillings change every week 2. They also serve quiches and other small dishes.

Cafe del Sol: Last but no least, a cafe I like to visit every time I am in Barcelona, even though it appears to be a bit touristy. But their patatas bravas and the spot itself is perfect to enjoy the Barcelonian sun. 
Price Range: 2-6€
Good to Know: Have a Clara (beer with lemonade) and some patatas bravas and your afternoon will be perfect.

Jaica: Traditional Tapas Bar; one of the oldest tapas bars in Barcelona; 10-15€ if you share portions with a bunch of people; Favourite dish: try the “bomba”, “xocos” and the croquetas con jamon

Maka Maka: Burger Restaurant; always crowded, next to the beach, surfer-style decoration; 8-12€; Favourite dish: I always go for the Cheeseburger, but that’s up to everyone’s personal taste; try the fries though, with a delicious homemade wasabi mayonnaise

Can Paixano - Xampanyeria: Traditional bar serving cava (kind of sparkling wine); very crowded, very traditional and nice place, no seating; 5-15€ - a glas of cava costs 1€, after four glasses you have to order sth. small to eat (2-4€); Favourite dish: try the “cecina” ham, “xistorra” – sausage and the croquetas

La Malandrina: Uruguayan Restaurant; from the outside it does not look super fancy, very plain interior; 8-15€; Favourite dish: Entrecote with patatas cremas

Places worth seeing:

Bunkers del Carmel: Great view over Barcelona, especially during sundown and night

Park Guell: Lovely park, a bit crowded and touristy though. Nevertheless: worth visiting

Park de la Ciutadella: Also very pretty, not so touristy park close to the beach

Sagrada Familia: Church designed by Gaudi

Montjuic: Old castle and great view

Boqueria: Oldest market in Barcelona; make sure to buy things rather in the back of the market as they are cheaper

Mercat de Santa Caterina: Also a nice food market

Visit Gracia and Sarria

Places I haven’t been to, but which friends have recommended:

Make sure to make a reservation for these in advance, as they seem quite popular. Also, a bit pricier than what is listed above, but apparently worth it.
