'Georgetown Cupcake' - Better than 'Magnolia Bakery' ?!
- Well, I think that's a question of your personal taste, whether you have a sweet tooth, or rather prefer desserts, which are not overloaded with sugar. I think that in general 'Magnolia Bakery' cupcakes are much sweeter, the muffin below the cream is a bit more firm and so is the cream itself. That's probably also the reason why after eating a 'Magnolia Bakery' cupcake you feel really saturated, however the 'Georgetown Cupcake' cupcake could be a never ending story.

In the 'Magnolia Bakery' buttercream there is slightly more butter and they use milk instead of cream cheese. And this is the reason for the fluffiness of 'Georgetown Cupcake', they're recipe is quite simple: 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter; 4 cups of confectioner's sugar (around 520g), sifted; 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract; 6 ounces cream cheese (170g). As they say in the video (link posted below), the most important thing is to whip it up on high speed for at least 5 minutes.

I do like 'Magnolia Bakery' cupcakes, too..don't get me wrong here. It is just that it depends on what you expect or if you feel more like a small snack, or a full desert. And also, Magnolia is THE place you know from movies, series etc. so it is definitely worth a visit, too :)

Type of Place: Normal cupcake shop, with all of their cupcakes on display, pink boxes and simple overall design. It's nothing special, since most of the time people get their cupcakes for take-away. They are in several locations, I went to the one in Boston on Newbury Street and definitely gonna check out the one in Soho, here in New York.

Food: They serve all kinds of cupcakes, such as red velvet, chocolate ones with chocolate ganache, vanilla with vanilla cream cheese frosting, seasonal specials, and and and... Click here for their menu.
I had the Pumpkin Cheesecake Cupcake, which is a pumpkin-infused cheesecake cupcake, topped with maple cream cheese frosting and a little, cute fondant maple leaf on top. Oh my, it was so delicious! The cake was fluffy and juicy and the cream was just perfect: not too heavy, not too sweet and also super fluffy.

Price: Cupcakes are $2,75, which is also cheaper than the ones at 'Magnolia Bakery' (which come at $3,50, but are also slightly bigger)
